Big Summer Announcements at the Midvale Main Street Theatre!

July 5, 2011

It is Summertime in Utah and we have got some outstanding productions and opportunities coming up for you. First off, our regular group of Quick Wits are continuing their Friday and Saturday night shows at 10:00pm. They are always funny and worth your time…but there’s more! Jason and Russ are going head-to-head (or rather beard to head) in an Ultimate Improv Showdown slated for August. The winner gets amazing bragging rights, the loser has to shave! Yep, the beard or the head depending on who wins!

This month, Around the Globe Theatre Company presents William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” directed by Beth Bruner. The Tempest will run on various dates from July 15-30 of 2011. We are both eager and pleased at the work this company is doing in bringing these great works to life.

August brings us Titus Productions under the Direction of Jake Andersen with Peter Pan. You may have seen their Rock Opera of Alice in Wonderland at the Midvale Main Street Theatre last Summer. I’m confident that this will prove to be every bit as delightful.

Last, but certainly not least, we are announcing auditions for Sweeney Todd. They will be held August 23rd at the Midvale Main Street Theatre at 7:30 pm. We invite you to go to our main Midvale Main Street Theatre website for more information on any of the above shows or auditions.

Have a safe and happy summer!

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Begins This Week!

November 7, 2010

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Director, Mike Hardy, and Co-Director, Tammy Ross, are proud to present this production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at the Midvale Main Street Theatre.

Cuckoo’s Nest intrigues audiences with a look at how things work (and don’t work) as opposed to how we think they do. This production is filled with twists that follow storylines from a time gone by…yet ever present today.

This show has adult themes and content and presents a unique story that is not soon forgotten.

We invite you to come experience this amazing cast. (This is a great show for date night! Scary, dramatic, twisty.)

Shows: November 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 all beginning at 7:00 p.m. To reserve your seat and save $2.00 per ticket, purchase Online Tickets at our Midvale Main Street Theatre website.

Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased a minimum of 24 hours in advance to receive the discount. Tickets will be available in the lobby of the Midvale Theatre 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each show. We look forward to seeing you at Cuckoo’s Nest!

Alice In Wonderland Rocked!

October 20, 2010

We recently had a group named Titus Productions produce and perform a rendition of Alice in Wonderland at the Midvale Main Street Theatre. This was a great piece of Community Theatre that added so many new faces to our stage. These delightful performances were a musical parody using modern ballads and rock music to emphasize the emotional twists of the story.

The creative story modifications were from the brilliance of Director/Producer Jake Andersen and we look forward to more productions from this group in the near future.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

May 8, 2010

The Students of Andrea Golding Flynn present

A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

The actors of this group are  home-schooled students from the south end of the Salt Lake valley that Andrea Golding Flynn has been mentoring in Shakespeare all year. Andrea comments “This is their culmination project. They are a very talented bunch of kids. The artwork for the poster was drawn by one of the students and more artwork in the programs by other students as well. I am very impressed with the progress of these students and excited to give them this opportunity.”

Footloose at the Midvale Main Street Theatre

The first week of the Midvale Main Street Theatre musical performances of Footloose not only exceeded our expectations, the audience responses have been magnificent as well.

This production has a terrific mix of  actors in their debut performances from our own community as well as many who have polished their abilities over years of live theatre performing. Regardless of the amount of time they have previously spent on stage, the performances have been delightful.

It is truly a joyful experience to see such dedication to live musical theatre performances. Footloose is fun in the fact that it has small-town atmosphere, yet an entire High School worth of students. The roles, themselves, are energetic and relatable to issues we all deal with periodically in our lives. There are a lot of roles and those who perhaps did not have a lead role this time around, feel happy for yourselves! You are a part of a major team effort. Without you, the show would not be the same. Every one of you continues to be an important addition to our Footloose cast and we look forward to this next week of performances with great expectations, excitement, and gratitude!

A slideshow featuring members of the cast of Footloose during rehearsals may be seen here. Footloose!

We do still have tickets available online for our performances next week and hope you all will join us!
